(MOPS)

The MOPS purpose statement reads, 'MOPS International exists to encourage, equip and develop every mother of preschoolers to realize her potential as a woman, mother and leader in the name of Jesus Christ.' Our church had the opportunity to live out this statement by ministering to roughly 30 moms, 70 children and 40 church members and volunteers. MOPS has allowed the mothers within our church to become even closer.

"For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."
Matthew 18:20 NIV

MOPS News

MOPS 2012
(Mothers of Preschoolers)

MOPS is into the third year here at First Presbyterian Church. We have just finished our first meeting in January 2012. This year’s attendance has been excellent. For each meeting we have had 50 plus people welcomed into our church. We set a new record with 23 moms and 43 kids for one November meeting. There are new moms at all of the meetings. These facts and the opportunity to spread the Good News make the current leadership extremely happy! The current leadership includes, Deanna Dyekman, Beth Kelly, Rebecca Kuker, Courtney Herceg, Jennifer Davis and Stephanie Prescott. Many more participating moms are committed to helping this ministry succeed.  They help with set up, clean up, cooking food, and filling in wherever needed.

We continue to meet twice a month on the first and third Thursdays. We share an opening prayer, meal and activity. To date for the 2011/12 year we’ve had our kick off, an author/speaker from MOPS International, doctor panel, Graffitos, ideas for food preparation, project night and Christmas celebration.

In April 2011 we applied for and were granted a $2000 grant from the Cheyenne Kiwanis Club Foundation. The grant is to be used for our MOPPETS childcare needs, workers and food. Special activities for 2011 included, meeting for breakfast and watching the Cheyenne Frontier Days parade in July and the 2011 Christmas program where we had 21 children and 10 moms sing Go Tell It on the Mountain and Make A Joyful Noise Unto the Lord!

Our leadership team is very excited about the relationships being formed in and out of our church due to MOPS. This ministry has been a very positive experience for many moms and children and we anticipate more to come from First Presbyterian MOPS! If you are interested in attending or helping MOPS in any way please contact Stephanie Prescott, 634-3765.
